Blog Spotlight - Nik of Mezzo Fashionisto

Hello luvs. It's time for the 4th installment of Blog Spotlight. For the new readers to this blog I started the blog spotlight because being a full time English student, managing this blog, and writing for a online magazine(not yet but soon) I can not give you all the “skinny” on fat fashion. There are many, many blogs out there. Many of which that I read that cover a lot of things that I do not. As oppose to just featuring bloggers on my blog roll I thought it would be a good thing to not only link you to the blog but give you a glimpse into the person behind the blog.


So, Meet Nik a aspiring singer and the blogger behind Fashion and beauty blog Mezzo Fashionisto.

Tiffany - Hello, Thank you for agreeing to answer some questions. How are you doing today?

Nik - I'm cool..I hope you are well!

Tiffany - What was the “light bulb” that went off or the situation that made you start you blog, Mezzo Fashionisto? 

Nik - Well, I noticed that there weren't really any fat fashion blogs that were doing fashion AND beauty so I thought I could bring something new to the fatshion blog world by doing that.I had been blogging for a while on music(mezzo Delicioso) and so I thought I would start a separate blog about my other interests.

Tiffany - The first time I logged on to your blog I said out loud, “Her face is giving me everything I need and More”. What inspires your different make up looks? How do you incorporate those inspirations into your make up?

Nik - I get inspiration from tons of things..mainly other pictures,runway makeup,art...I love paintings...I'm always on the hunt for new inspiration.

Tiffany - Often times it is hard to define personal style but, if possible can you please describe yours?

Nik - Well, I always think of it as rock and roll meets retro with a splash of simplicity.I really like clothing from the 40s,50s,and 70s.

Tiffany - Have you always been into make up and fashion or are these fairly new interest?

Nik - Nope, always.

Tiffany - Being fat or plus size what is the hardest obstacle you have to face regarding fashion?

Nik - Just clothing choice mostly..it forces me to be creative to get the look I want.

Tiffany - Because this blog is called fatshopaholic I have to ask you this: Does having a fashion blog where you post outfits of the day(ootd) make you shop more? How often do you shop? Do you identify with being a shopaholic?

Nik -  I used to be a fellow shopaholic but my finances aren't really in a place where I can shop as much as I like anymore. So now I "shop from my closet".Every now and then I add something to the closet when I can afford it, now I REALLY take the time to choose things when I shop...I want to make sure I need it in my closet...not just want it.

Tiffany - I think it’s fair to assume that if you have a fat fashion blog where you show off your outfits that you have a pretty high level of confidence. How did you acquire that confidence?

Nik - This is sort of a tough question to answer...I think the blog helps with my confidence. There was definitely a time when I really hated everything about myself..I had to start a confidence journey..I started to fake it until I actually believed in myself. I think being a performer helped a lot with this.

Tiffany - What are your favorite things about the fat fashion blogging community?

Nik -  I feel like we are the most friendly and communal of bloggers...I feel like we support each other and our efforts more than I see other fashion bloggers doing. I've met a great community of bloggers that I really think are fabulous people that I am blessed to be acquainted with.

Tiffany - Right now there are certainly not as many options for plus size clothing as there are straight size. What are you hopes, if any, for the plus size clothing industry as it grows and develops?

Nik - Well I hope for more equality in price point and in style. I would love for us to be able to buy clothing EVERYWHERE not just in speciality stores(even though I am happy for them).

Tiffany - Do you have any long term goals regarding fashion and make up? Are those industries you want to get involved in professionally?

Nik - I would love,love,LOVE to be a beauty editor for a magazine..but really my career goals are for the music industry. I live for music.

Tiffany - Do you have any plans to expand Mezzo Fashionisto? A full website maybe?

Nik - I would love to have a full website that is composed of music, fashion,visual art, and beauty called TheFlyestMezzo.com... one day hopefully.
