Lisa Bonet as Denise Huxtable

While the Huxtable family was brought to us through the Cosby Show to represent the perfect, upstanding African American family  the Huxtable children were always allowed to express their own individual style. Most notable for her fashion contributions was Lisa Bonet as Denise Huxtable. Denise's style was all over the place yet every outfit still felt like her. Throughout the Cosby show years we saw her in oversized clothes, mens wear, patterns, work suits, pearls, and lace just to name a few.

Watching reruns of  Denise on the Cosby show inspired me to take fashion risk. My love for oversized clothing stems from her influence and I rock it even though to some it's not plus size friendly. I always  enjoyed that her interesting taste in clothes was never a issue. I can't recall another character making fun of or having a off comment about one of her outfits it just was what it was. Thats my hope for fat fashion. One day I hope fat girls in fashionable clothes will be the norm to everyone.
Below I have put together some pieces that I feel can help us fat girls snag some of Denise's style.

I always thought she was so beautiful. I love oversized sweaters, but they seemed to be harder to find for a while. At least now the boyfriend cardigan is an easy find.

i loved her style. it was so cool and different back in the day. now it looks like urban outfitters has packaged and sold her style to the masses.

Thank You for reminding me the Bill Cosby Show! I was a very little girl when it was broadcasted on TV (german TV). And I was to young to pay atteniotion for fashion. But thanks You now I can see that almost everything worn in that movies is fashionable now! (sorry for my english)
