Tales of a Shopaholic! (purchases for April 2010)

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Hello everyone. I received my Obama check (financial aid refund) and from the time I got it it burned a whole in my pocket. I have seen so many things that I need to have; it's ridiculous. I am learning some restraint though. I think I have found my personal style. I think its like  floral, bright colors, with a splash vintage. So, because of that revelation I will be opening the Fat Shopaholic store to sell things that don’t really fit my style anymore as well some other things so that there will be a nice variety of sizes. Also, I have learned to be less of a impulsive shopper. Just because something is cute does not mean that I need to have it. The things that I purchased this month were things I had been ogling a while and didn’t buy because of a lack of funds.
With my Obama check I tried to be a little responsible as well. While my parents are helping me with my move to New York City I also saved $600 from my check to help. But, in true shopaholic fashion I spent all of the rest of my money on spring/summer clothes because I know that when I move I will be completely broke from paying rent and such so, I wanted to get my spending out the way while I could. So, here are my purchases for April.
My first purchases were from my favorite designer naKimuli. I love bright colors and leggings so these were right up my alley. I also picked up a floral skirt.

Next, I headed over to I Heart Norwegian Wood and picked up floral bike shorts. Bike shorts seem to be something like a mini trend. I was a little hesitant at first but, now I can’t wait for these to come. I have shopped with Angie before. I have a post of me in her leggings here. I have another floral pair that I can't wait to wear after they get altered a bit.

It is so hard to find shoes I like in a 11 1/2 or 12. I love oxfords. I have a old beat up $3 pair from the thrift store that I wear pretty often so, when I came across this pair from Pineapple Mint Vintage I had to have them. I’m going to wear them with shorts, a floral top and a fedora. When I wear it out I will be sure to post.  A lot  of people have expressed that they hate searching through ietsy for the good stuff and I found these shoes through a random search of the site. Maybe I should do a video on my searching method?

I love flats and I also love interesting details. These Two String Jane loafers combine both of those aspects. These will go great with Jeggings, a T-shirt for times when you’re feeling laid back.

If you did not know I love head pieces so, when I came across these items from Alice Takes a Trip it was love at first site. They have some tops I wish I could fit but, they only go up to a U.S. 12. I also got a cute little robot necklace that they had on sale.  I ended up getting hair bows number 2 and 4 (the ducks and the lady bugs), Robot number 2, and a head band in fabric number 2 (robots). I love accessories like these because they are easy ways to add a punch to plain casual outfits.

Nik over at Mezzo Fashionisto opened a blog store in an effort to earn some extra cash by selling things that no longer have a place in her closet. I love cosby sweaters. You can throw a cosby cardigan over jeggings, a drapey t - shirt, and add some flats and be set. The pull over I purchased I will wear with a great pair nike dunks I have owned for a while. I got both sweaters with shipping for $19. So, It was a great deal.

Xtina from Musings of Fatshionista also has a blog store called shop fatshionista. I picked up a great floral pok a dot dress from there. Its a great summer dress and I can’t wait to get it.

Decadent Industries is one of my favorite designers as well; I love their twist on basics. After a long wait Nikki premiered the leggings line and I snatched up 2 great pair and a drapey tank to wear with my yellow naKiMuli leggings. I got both pair of floral prints leggings and the tank in teal.

I check Asos Curve everyday to see what new things they add. They have a $14 flat rate shipping but, it’s to much to pay when they only have one item I want so, I waited until I got some money and until they got a couple things I wanted. Here’s what I got.  I got the zipper top and racer back top both in black. My purchases didn't come because of the volcanic ash but, I hope they get here soon.

I no longer wear pants so I need a substitute and jeggings were perfect for that. So, I got two pair from Evans. I got some from Torrid that didn’t fit properly so I’m going to return them. I got some harem pants to. This purchase also got held up because of the volcanic ash. I hope to get it soon.  I also got some black jeggings but, they were sold on the site so no picture.

So I think I have pretty good spring/summer wardrobe going. I'm not saying I won't buy anything else but, money will be tight when I move. Also, next month I Probably won't do a post like this because I won't be shopping at all because my goal is to be able to pay 2 months rent and security. But, anyway tell me what your spring/summer wardrobe will consist of.

Also do not forget to enter the Jens Fashion Plus giveaway here.

Hi Tiffany i just started following your blog since i am trying to start one myself and i can say your sense of style is awesome because its soooo individualistic (is that a real word?) and i love that about fashion the ability to express oneself no matter what your size is. I always say fashion has no size and you uphold that to a T. Thanks for being you and sharing it with the world!!!!!
