Womens Jeans ar Bonmarche

Friday, May 27, 2011

I'll be the first to admit I'm not a jeans girl, but lately I have been coming around to jeans and pants in general. One of my issues with denim is the fit and affordability; it feels like it's hard to find a great pair of jeans that incorporates a great fit at a decent price. Luckily there are lots of great women's jeans at Bonmarche to choose from. The cuts of denim I like the most and have been experimenting with are the wide leg and trousers styles, so this trouser style pair is perfect and a steal at £15 or under $30 U.S.

Trench Coats From JD Williams

One of the pains of living in the midwest is the in-between weather we get in April and May. It's hard to know what kind of jacket to wear when it's hot at the start of the day, but cool by sun down. I think trench coats are perfect for that. They look great with skirts or pants and have a easy lightweight feel for those windy days or cool nights. Women's plus size clothing store JD Williams has some great classic trench coat options and some more colorful ones as well. I have included pictures of my favorites below. Are you wearing trench coats this spring?

Tales of a Shopaholic

This months Tales of a Shopaholic is fairly short because I feel like last month I purchased the foundations for my spring/summer wardrobe and this month I mostly purchased things I've been wanting for a while, but happen to catch on sale this month. I purchased the fishnet tights for $6 and the sequin clutch for $8 in the 40% off sale at Lane Bryant. I also caught all three of my Asos items on sale. I love the green clutch and yellow satchel for that extra pop of color. Also, I was very glad to finally find some great floral wedges in my size at Evans. The Simply Be overalls are serving up 90's and I can't wait to wear them. Finally the naKiMuli leggings weren't on sale, but I had to have them. What did you buy this month?

Womens Trousers at Marisota

Monday, May 23, 2011

Color blocking is a big trend this Spring/Summer season and one of my favorites. A great way to start your color blocked look is with a pair of bright trousers. Marisota is a great place to find all kinds of women's trousers, but their bright wide legs and slim fit trousers are my favorite.

Plus Size Formal Dresses

Friday, May 20, 2011

Spring and Summer are definitely the seasons for formal dresses. There is prom, weddings, and fancy garden partys if you're lucky. Looking through different websites and stores for the right dress can be difficult, but Plussizedresses.com has a great system that allows you sort through plus size formal dresses from different websites by size, designer, occasion, and style.

My favorite of the dresses offered is this Anna Scholz formal maxi dress.

Over the Past Few Days

If you were in Chicago the past few days you know it has been way too chilly to wear this outside all day. I took this photo Sunday for the City Chic blogger look book. When it's up on their site I'll be sure to post a link.  I love these oxfords by Torrid. Their shoes usually hurt my pinky toe, but these are comfy and I like the lace panels on the side.

This is a outfit I wore to run errands. The silky scarf was sent to me by Evolve last year. Up until recently I didn't know what to do with it, but one day I almost bought a leopard turban head band from Asos, but thought about tying this as one instead. I love that this scarf is silky and doesn't pull on your hair. Also, I love these comfort choice tights. It has been so hard for me to find a good pair of opaque tights that last longer then one wear and these are perfect. The oversized beth ditto top is perfect for just throwing on and running out of the door.

Simply Yours Foundation Garments

Shape wear can be a tricky subject. I don't usually wear any, but I'm definitely not against it. One of my issues with shape wear is that it can be uncomfortable and not very attractive. It's under your clothing so it's not open for public view, but beautiful foundations can make you feel a little extra confident and sexy. Simply Yours makes beautiful foundations in general, but some of their women's shape wear, particularly the Gon Wan pieces, have me wanting make their underwear outerwear.  Below are a few of my favorites.

This is marked a body shaper, but I can totally see it being worn with trousers and a blazer as a body suit. The sheer panels have me in love.

These briefs have some tummy control features, but come in a beautiful color and have a great retro high waisted look.

This white bodysuit would look great underneath a sheer button up blouse.

Back On My Seventies Steez

School is over and I'm back with a new outfit post as promised. Yesterday I attended the Dangerous Curves Ahead fashion show and I had a great time. I feel kind of bad that my first outfit back is the same silhouette as my last outfit post, but I hope you enjoy it just the same. This outfit features three of my favorite purchases of the pass few weeks: a oversized clutch, floral tights, and clogs. The oversized clutch and clogs are perfect, but the tights are another story. I love the pattern and look of them, but I ordered them in a UK 32 and they are thin, made of gauzy material, and don't come up very high. I think they just run small, so if you order a pair be sure to take note of that.

I have been loving bopping around looking like something out of the 70's. I also been called a church lady, a old lady, and a sanctified school teacher, and a Mormon all of which are fine with me..lol. After the outfit photos I have included my 3 favorite looks from the Dangerous Curves Ahead Fashion Show and a OOTD video.
