Falling Like The Rain So We Ain't Running Out...

Sunday, December 26, 2010

My best friend Britney and I went out today for national giftcard day. I call it that because there are so many sales today to encourage people to use the gift cards they got for Christmas. Thrifting was a bust, but i did get a studded vintage shirt, a few bracelets and a couple bows from some local recycled clothing  stores. While I was out I wore my leather bomber jacket from Jessica London. I added my vintage brooches to the jacket to make it a little more me and paired it with the fur leopard print earmuffs and mittens my mom got me for christmas. I kept the rest of my outfit simple to make trying on clothes easier.

I love nearly everything about this jacket. It's 100% leather and much warmer than I thought it would be. It certainly has been holding up to the Chicago winter well in the month or two I've had it. There haven't been any frayed seams or rips. I sized up and got a 28 because I read that this jacket was a little tight across the back and I wanted enough room to fit a hoodie or sweater underneath. Sizing up definitely solved the minor fit issue. I will say I wish the sleeves were a bit longer; I like my sleeves to end where my hands begin. I solved that problem by adding a hoodie underneath for extra warmth and sleeve length. Over all this jacket is a win; I wear it everyday.

How are you keeping warm this winter? Did you do any after Christmas shopping?

Stealing Your Red Lips

Saturday, November 27, 2010

This is what I wore on Thanksgiving. The Blazer and the shoes have been mine since high school. I love the blazer, but in the 3 or 4 years that I've owned it I haven't worn it a lot. I always struggle to find a way to style it that doesn't look "Smart" or "Preppy". I've had this lace dress since the launch of Asos Curve. I haven't worn it a lot either because I didn't want it to look to "Girly" I finally brought both pieces together and I love the out come.

I have had so much trouble finding tights that fit me properly and don't break in the thigh after one wearing, so when Tights Please offered to send me these tights I hopped at chance to try them out. So far I have worn these 4 or 5 times and I have yet to experience any rips or runs in the tights. I like the weight of the material as well; they're thick enough for a Chicago winter for sure without being to thick. They don't have a lot of colors to choose from in the Cette Dublin Plus Size style that I was asked to review, but there are some purples and blues as well as basic colors. I asked for the black, the purple black, and the storm. The black is opaque and true to color, while I found that the purple black did have hints of purple and black the color is not the same deep purple shown on the swatch on the product page. I haven't received the storm yet, so I can't judge the color there. In terms of sizing according to the packaging these only are suppose to fit folks up to around 250 pounds, but I found that although I'm bigger then that they fit fine. I do wish that larger sizes were added to line though. Also, on the website the size guides only describes sizing using hip and height; I wish they added the weight chart on the back of the package as well.

I love this red lipstick. It's Passion Red by Sephora. It was my sisters, but I liked it so much I brought my won on Friday. Speaking of Friday I will be posting on  my black Friday scores soon.

I Sip My Kool Aid...I'm Feeling Better Now..

It's officially fall! It's chilly out and the leaves have started to fall. I love it! Any who, over the summer
(around July) the lovely people at Pure Energy for Target sent me a few samples from their up coming fall line (since then released). I never had the opportunity wear any of the pieces until now. When I first pulled the pants out of the package I said, "Oh no! I should have said I didn't wear pants". However, upon trying them on I really enjoyed the fit. Although they have a button and zipper they fit more like leggings.

I paired the "pants" with an oversized vintage top; I love the fall colors. I'm not a fan of just sticking a big, wide belt over everything. In fact I hate that, but I took a chance and I think it works great. It's chilly, so I wore my naKiMuli cardigan. Finally, I added my Dolce Vita for Target shoes. I love that these went up to a 12. If you're foot isn't super wide they'll fit great. Whenever I wear these no one thinks they're from target.

Ha! This picture makes me laugh. I actually didn't pose like this. My friend just snapped the camera; I didn't even know he was still taking pictures.

Jen's Fashion Plus Clothing Review!

Monday, March 8, 2010

(Click the image to make it larger)

The wonderful Jen of Jens Fashion plus was gracious enough to send me a shirt to review so, here goes.
To give the tee shirt a test run I decided to wear it to school today. Before ordering from Jen’s fashion plus I suggest you take your measurements and compare them to the measurements on  each item listed. I find that the measurements for Jen’s Fashion Plus run a tad small. I had to order the 5x but, at most other stories I wear a 3x.

The tee shirt is grey and black with “rock star” images. I like the quality of the shirt. For some reason I thought that this shirt would be thin but, it was not. The shirt turned out being opaque enough that my bra didn’t show through while the fabric was a good weight; it was not to thick or to thin.
In the morning I do not have a lot of time to get dressed so, I just paired the shirt with all black. I have been wearing my American Apparel circle scarf everyday for weeks; I just can’t get tired of it. I also am a fan of wearing leggings alone because if you didn’t know, in Tiffany’s world if the shirt is hip length it can be worn with just leggings. I have to say that I love the Torrid knit moto jacket. I did have to get it a size larger then I normally wear in jackets (a five) like I normally have to do at Torrid. The shoes are Evans. I got them for 20 pounds down from 60 pounds; YAY for good deals. Finally, I have been wearing a headband or head piece on my head everyday for weeks so, the bow is the perfect touch.
Be on the look out for more reviews of Jen’s spring offerings soon!
All photos taken by me and my trusty tripod!

eShakti Clothing Review!

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

eShakti is a up and coming clothing company from India. The thing that makes eShakti worth mentioning is the endless options for customizing your clothing. You can chose from sizes 0 - 26W or you can customize any of the pieces to your exact measurements for a extra 15 dollars. Even if you do choose from a pre-cut size you can still customize your clothing by choosing the length of you sleeves and skirts. eShakti has a full array of clothing; there are pants, skirts, jackets, dresses, leggings, jewery, and accessories. While not all of the clothing is appropriate for a trendy 20 something, I think there is something for everybody.

Although eShakti is in India ready made items are available to ship immediately and customized items are available in about 3 days. Shipping is fast to, taking only about 5 or 6 days.

Pricing is good to. Even with the extra 15 dollars for custom pieces I did not see anything over 100 dollars. This is a great alternative for places like Etsy that can charge quite a bit from custom pieces.
Recently eShakti offered to send me a piece of clothing to try. I chose a brown, asymmetric jacket. This jacket is 100% wool on outside and the lining is a Nylon silk like fabric. Although when I ordered my jacket I ordered a standard 26W, eShakti still asked me for my bra size, and I opted to have the sleeves cut long because I find that when I buy jackets or coats they fit fine everywhere else but, the sleeves are too short.

I love this jacket. It fits me perfectly. I love the asymmetric look. There is full motorcycle jacket like detailing along the bottom of the jacket and the shoulders. The fabric is comfortable and the sleeves fit just right. This jacket can be worn with jeans and sneakers or you can dress it up. I’m wearing leggings and sneakers though. Hope you enjoy.

I would love to link you to the jacket but, I combed the site through and through and its not there. Sorry!

eShakti already has there spring clothing up so, check it out. Thanks again for the jacket! If you do decide to check it out enter code RBG5MAT for $20 off $30 . The code is not case sensitive and is valid through 01/31/2010.
